I began my career in the overhead line industry at the age of 18 as a Linesman, gaining first-hand experience of the demands, challenges and safety standards required to work on critical electricity transmission infrastructure. Starting from the ground up enabled me to develop the practical skills, technical understanding, discipline and work ethic that underpin successful project delivery within the transmission sector.
Through dedication, hard work and consistent performance, I progressed to the position of Chargehand with Balfour Beatty, where I assumed greater responsibility for leading site teams, maintaining programme delivery and ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality and productivity on live overhead line projects.
I subsequently joined Omexom as a Chargehand, further broadening my experience across high-voltage transmission and distribution schemes. During this period, I strengthened my leadership capabilities and developed extensive expertise in managing complex site operations within challenging project environments.
In 2021, I founded Voltage Solutions Ltd, a specialist overhead line contracting business focused on supplying highly skilled personnel, contract support services and practical expertise to major transmission projects throughout the United Kingdom. The business was built upon the core values of safety, quality, reliability and technical excellence that I had developed throughout my career.
Following the success of Voltage Solutions Ltd, we expanded our operations through the creation of Voltage Solutions Europe, enabling us to bring the same UK industry standards, experienced workforce and safety-led approach to high-voltage overhead line projects across mainland Europe.
Building upon this growth, we established Voltage Solutions Energy, through which we are now positioned to undertake the role of Principal Contractor within the energy sector. This represents a natural progression for the business, leveraging our extensive operational experience, industry knowledge and reputation for delivering projects safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.
My journey from Linesman to Chargehand with two of the industry's leading contractors, and ultimately to founding and growing the Voltage Solutions Group, has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of every stage of project delivery. This practical experience enables me to lead with credibility, understand client requirements, support operational teams effectively and ensure the successful delivery of safe, efficient and high-quality solutions across the power and energy network.
